Met up with my friend Mike for a couple of reasons (besides the fact I still hadn´t visited his tattoo shop!!). For one, he got himself some new photo gear and he wanted me to come over for a play day testing the new stuff. The second reason…I think I got myself a good base for indoor band shoots:) I can use the tattoo shop´s back room when ever I need to, and because of the great location (Old Town, Stockholm.), there´s also a million good spots for the outdoor photos. So big thanks to Mike and the artists at ZOI Tattoo for being nice and wanting me there:) The deal also includes great benefits for “my” bands and the friends of extreMMetal.se. Sebastian (Rojas) in TERMINAL PROSPECT contacted me for a few months ago and we started talking about finding a date for a photo shoot. We had already booked a day in November last year, but for the first time I had to cancel due to my trip to Japan. But we made it finally and had a fun afternoon at their rehearsal studio and the nearby surroundings. Of course with food and coffee breaks!! The guys were great fun to work with so it was a good day:) No albums yet, only a few “Making of…” pics. Some by me and some by my wonderful assistant Johanna.

I´ve been working with the band many times before, but now there´s a completely new line-up: Jimmy Bergman – guitar, Zoomlander (Pontus!!!) – bass, Berget – vocals/guitar and Bennich – drums.

M.M.I. 2008 / “Extremmetal photo session” (in my old studio)

The fantastic last gig (for me) of 2011 with Trash Amigos & Krux. Lots of legendary musicians sharing the stage that night and it was just fukken awesome!!!:)) I think everybody knows about Krux, but you also need to check out the four Pedros in Trash Amigos!! Great show!!
As usual at Debaser, I got some trouble with the lights. Really dark and most of the lights were from behind. So high ISO:s and somewhat crappy pics. But never mind…had so much fun:)

Besides the four finalists, there were also other bands playing. Like the last years winners SEVENTRIBE. They got some (extremely intensive) 30 minutes on stage and has to be the only band in the world who look hot in pink;)) Unconditional love since 2005!

What to expect @ a SEVENTRIBE gig..

Went to Göta Källare to get some pics for a magazine. And for extreMMetal.se, ofc:) Met the four bands (and the winners) competing to be the best unsigned rock/metal band in Sweden 2011, and had a great time. Thanks to my sidekick Johanna!! My best/most fun assistant ever!
Anyway, 75% of the votes were given by a jury (ppl from Crank It Up, Sweden Rock, Jägermeister and Supernova Records) and the rest by the people at the venue. The winner gets to play at the Sweden Rock Festival and the Getaway Festival. They also get some studio time for recording a single to be distibuted with 18 000 Sweden Rock Magazines spring 2012. Seventribe, the winners from last year was there, of course, Raised Fist also, but more of them later. (And I KNOW I missed Entombed@Riche) the same night. But no complains, was kinda happy at GK;) Still, thanks Patrik H. for uploading the vid!)

I´ve wanted to see COFFINS for I don´t know how long!! I had already decided to go and see some other bands this evening but when I saw that COFFINS had a gig at the Death Fest, I changed the plans, mailed the band & organizer if I could come over and take some photos. Everything worked out fine and later on the band asked me also to take some promo pics (which will follow shortly). Of course I agreed:) Had a great time with the guys and the gig was SICK!!:)) Total mayhem in a really small venue (Koiwa Bush Bash). Loved it!! Real brutal underground! The line up has changed some and right now it´s a 4 piece. Bungo Uchino on guitar, Koreeda on bass, the used-to-be drummer Ryo in vocals and the new guy Satoshi on drums. Got some cd:s and a t-shirt as a present and I even bought the first album on vinyl and got it signed. The photos are…ehmm…also real underground;))

My first extreme metal festival in Japan!! There were quite a many interesting gigs this evening in Tokyo, and I´d already more or less decided to go and see Takeuchi Toshiro in GENOCIDE NIPPON at Rockmaykan (Meguro Rokumeikan) and also meet up with some friends. Why I ended up in Koiwa instead, was because COFFINS were playing at Koiwa Bush Bash!! Anyway, saw a few more bands, met some really nice people and had a great time! Missed the Malaysian band HUMILIATION because I had to leave after the COFFINS gig. I promised to go to Asakusa Extreme (another underground metal festival) the following tuesday to see them and some others I met…but that didn´t work out either. So…now I have to go to Kuala Lumpur! Syaari (guitars in HUMILIATION) hates me forever and he promised to poison my brownies when I come over (yepp, the guy has a bakery in KL;))
Have to thank Yutaka (Bloodbath Records and organizer of Koiwa Death Fest) and of course COFFINS so much for having me as a guest at this event!! We´ll meet again, I´m sure:) Got also some misc. pics coming up shortly…

Grave – Deformed

According to my galleries it´s been 3 years since my last GS gig?? Again…I miss Tanto, the venue I saw them the last time in 2008. For you who are not familiar with the place, it was a house in a park in Sthlm and it burned down for a couple of years ago. By then it was already lost because the city of Sthlm just snatched the place from the metalheads for whatever reason:( The end of a great era in Sthlm metal. Sucky lights and sometimes really bad sounds but it was home for a long time. Anyway, I went there a few times for the annual GENERAL SURGERY gig in the autumn so for me Tanto & GS (and Club Distotion;)) are forever connected. So that´s why all the nostalgic blahblah:))

VICIOUS ART is no more. The farewell gig was a worthy finale of the band´s career. Crazy as ever and heavy as hell:) Just counted and since 2006 I´ve seen V.A. seven times and every time they did a great show. “Death metal with a twist” for sure:) You´re going to be missed!!

Vicious Art – The Topmost Violent God

WIKI…and I quote: “Gorgoroth was founded in 1992 by guitarist Infernus after making a pact with the devil.In 1993, the band released their first demo, entitled A Sorcery Written in Blood. On January 7, 1994, Firda, the major newspaper in the county of Sogn og Fjordane where the band originated from, ran a cover story on the demo, with the headline “Local music with Satanic symbolism”. According to the article, the release of the demo and flyers with Satanic symbols led to “concerned parents contacting the Sheriff’s Office in Fjaler”.”

Pest used to do the vocals in 1995–1997, and been back in the band in a few years now. Totally missed the Gaahl era, tho…Great show at Klubben, good lights:)

VADER – The Book

VALKYRJA made their way to Klubben with “The Sign of Hell Tour” and for me personally their gig was the most important one that evening. I´m late with the pics, so they already finished their 5-6 weeks on the road and I really hope they made millions of new fans while at it;)
The band is really great live and the album “Contamination” is amazing! They didn´t play “Ambience of The Dead” in Sthlm, and I slightly hate them for that. Actually they stroke the song from the setlist right before my eyes!:O Oh well…anyway, they did a great show!

The Sickening – Slurping Rotten Remains

By now everybody probably knows what WATAIN means to me. I´ve seen them in different countries, on bigger and smaller stages and the experience is always the same. Pure awesomeness and magic, both visually and emotionally. There are many great bands who make great music and totally rule on stage. And there´s WATAIN. Always high above everything else. Simple as that. Lots of respect.
Anyway, I couldn´t stay near the stage after the 3 first songs because the filmcrew (eventually there will be a DVD!) were all over the place. So the rest of the pics are from the balcony. Cool to get some pics of the whole stage and the crowd, but it was a bit too far from the heat & the stench;))

Great bands on the bill this evening!! MALIGN first on stage and I have to admit that I didn´t have a clue about the line-up. I´ll keep myself out of the discussions about “who is who” & “what is what”. I just adore the Romanian stuff:). The soundscapes, weird instruments, all of it. So beautiful.

Basics from E.M: Negură Bunget started its Black Metal presence back in 1995, as a duo, with Hupogrammos Disciple’s on vocals, guitars and keyboards and Negru on drums. After a disagreement between Sol Faur, Hupogrammos and Negru, the band decided to split-up. Negru decided to continue the project with a new line-up. Hupogrammos and Sol Faur have started a new project called Dordeduh. Negură Bunget means “Dark Foggy Forest.”

This event was the culmination of the Black Metal Projekt STHLM, planned, realized & organized by Samuel as a school project (!!:)). I think he did great!!:)

CRUCIFYRE – KISS THE GOAT

I love to shoot Mr. DEATH gigs. Difficult as hell because of the dim lights, preferrably directed from behind the band. Works well with the image ´cos the guys look like they´ve been recently unearthed. Consequently I always end up with a bunch of weird pics and I just love them:) Needless to say that the gig was amazing. I told you, only great bands this evening!

Mr. Death – Suffer

Club Distortion with Peter & Sophie is finally back in a really good venue in the middle of the City!! Four awesome bands on opening night: FACEBREAKER, Mr, DEATH, CRUCIFYRE & THE RESISTANCE. Really good stage & lights and even the sound was great! The beer could be cheaper, tho. And don´t buy drinks in the bar!! They cost like 16 Euro (!!??) Anyway, uploaded some some FACEBREAKER pics. A killer gig as always!

I do like these metal cruises. Haven´t been on one since April 2010 (the first time I saw DEVIL´S BLOOD!)) so I guess it was about time. Mostly shooted the gigs and not so much of the other stuff.
